Landscape Lighting in Oregon City, OR

Oregon City's mix of genuinely historic homes and newer development makes for interesting landscape lighting. Around the McLoughlin district and the bluff, the older homes and established gardens reward a restrained approach — a few warm, well-placed fixtures that pick out mature trees and period detail, rather than a design that overwhelms the setting.

The bluff and hillside neighborhoods bring the considerations we handle across the metro's sloped areas: sightlines that change dramatically with elevation, stepped entries and sloped driveways that need real safety lighting, and glare control that matters more when a property is visible from below.

Local Know-How

What Matters in Oregon City

01

Restraint on historic properties

On older Oregon City homes, fewer fixtures and warmer light suit the setting. We light the mature trees and garden structure, and keep the house itself understated.

02

Grazing over washing

Period stonework, brick and textured planting walls look best with light raked across them at a low angle, which brings out the texture rather than flattening it.

03

Hillside paths and entries

On the bluff and the sloped neighborhoods, every step and grade change needs clear, shielded light — a safety requirement before it's a design choice.

Reviews

What Homeowners Say

June 2026
“Other quotes were a fixture count on paper. These guys walked the yard, explained what each light was doing and why, and the plan matched what we got.”

May 2026
“Our 1912 Craftsman vanished after dark. They lit the columns and the gable and left everything between them dark. The contrast is the whole thing.”

Architectural & Facade Lighting

April 2026
“Steep lot, and the walk down was dangerous in the wet. Staggered path lights plus lights in the step risers — fewer fixtures than we were quoted elsewhere, better result.”

March 2026
“Half our system had been dark for two years. They found it in twenty minutes — corroded connectors — and told me the transformer was fine. Could have sold me a new one.”

How It Works

From Consultation to Installed

01

Free Design Consultation

We walk your property with you, talk through what you want the space to feel like after dark, and note the trees, architecture, and pathways worth lighting — no pressure, no obligation.

02

Your Lighting Plan

We put the design on paper fixture by fixture — what gets lit, from where, with which beam spread — and price it as a fixed proposal. Nothing is ordered and no deposit is taken until you've approved it.

03

Clean, Low-Voltage Install

Our crews hand-dig and tuck 12-volt cable below grade, set transformers discreetly, and mount solid brass and copper fixtures — with your lawn and beds left the way we found them.

04

Night Aiming & Ongoing Care

We return after dark to aim every fixture by eye, set your timer or app schedule, and walk the finished system with you — then keep it dialed in with optional annual maintenance.

Questions

Landscape Lighting in Oregon City: FAQ

How do you light an older home in Oregon City without it looking modern?

With restraint. We use warm color temperatures, fewer fixtures, and concealed placement so the light appears to come from the garden itself. Mature trees and the garden carry the design, and the house is picked out quietly rather than floodlit.

How much does landscape lighting cost in Portland?

Pricing follows the design — fixture count, transformer size, cable runs, and material. A focused front-yard design with a handful of tree uplights and path fixtures starts in the low thousands; a full wraparound system with multiple zones costs more. Your written proposal breaks out per-fixture pricing so you can scale zones up or down and see exactly what changes.

Why low-voltage instead of standard 120-volt lighting?

Low-voltage 12V systems are safer to work around, far easier to adjust or expand later, and don't require the conduit and permitting that line-voltage work does. The transformer steps household current down at one point, and everything beyond that is low-risk cable you can garden around. It's the standard for residential landscape lighting for good reason.

Will digging the cable damage my lawn and beds?

No. We hand-cut a narrow slit in the turf, tuck the cable below grade, and close it behind us — within a week or two you can't tell where we worked. We route around root zones rather than trenching through them, which matters a lot on Portland lots with mature trees.

What color temperature do you use?

2700K warm white on essentially everything. It flatters bark, stone, and foliage, and it reads as inviting rather than clinical. Cooler temperatures around 4000K make plants look grey and green foliage look sickly. We also keep the temperature consistent across the whole system — mismatched fixtures are the fastest way to make a yard look pieced together.
