Landscape & Garden Lighting in Portland, OR
Landscape lighting is what turns a yard you only use in daylight into one you actually look at all evening. PDX Outdoor Lighting designs and installs custom low-voltage systems for homes throughout Portland, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, and the surrounding metro — uplighting specimen trees, grazing across stone and bark texture, silhouetting Japanese maples, and layering light through planting beds so the garden reads with depth instead of flatly washing out.
The design comes first, and it starts on your property. We walk the yard with you, identify what deserves to be seen at night and what should stay in shadow, and build the plan around your specific trees, grades, and sightlines. That is the difference between a considered design and a row of identical fixtures spaced evenly down a bed — which is what most quick-quote installers deliver.

What Our Clients Say
“Other quotes were a fixture count on paper. These guys walked the yard, explained what each light was doing and why, and the plan matched what we got.”
Landscape & Garden Lighting
Mark R.
Lake Oswego
“Our 1912 Craftsman vanished after dark. They lit the columns and the gable and left everything between them dark. The contrast is the whole thing.”
Architectural & Facade Lighting
Jennifer L.
Irvington, Portland
“Steep lot, and the walk down was dangerous in the wet. Staggered path lights plus lights in the step risers — fewer fixtures than we were quoted elsewhere, better result.”
Path & Walkway Lighting
David S.
West Linn
“Half our system had been dark for two years. They found it in twenty minutes — corroded connectors — and told me the transformer was fine. Could have sold me a new one.”

Then it gets built to last. We use solid brass and copper fixtures rated for wet locations, waterproof silicone-filled connectors, and direct-burial 12-volt cable that we hand-tuck below grade rather than trench through your root zones. In a climate that's wet for eight months a year, that hardware choice is the whole ballgame — it's the reason our systems are still running when the discount-store kits have long since filled with water and gone dark.

More About Our Landscape & Garden Lighting Work
The technique matters as much as the hardware. A tree uplit with two fixtures cross-aimed from either side reads as a three-dimensional form; the same tree hit head-on with one wide flood reads as a flat green wall. Grazing a fixture close to a stone wall reveals the texture; pulling it back six feet erases it. We spend the time to aim, shield, and adjust beam spreads so you see the effect and not the source — glare in the eye is the single most common flaw in DIY and rushed-install systems.
We install landscape lighting for homes across Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Happy Valley, and the surrounding metro. Whether you want a restrained design that lifts the front of the house or a fully layered garden you can see from every window, PDX Outdoor Lighting brings design judgment and hardware that survives the Pacific Northwest. Our Process
How We Work
Free Design Consultation
We walk your property with you, talk through what you want the space to feel like after dark, and note the trees, architecture, and pathways worth lighting — no pressure, no obligation.
Your Lighting Plan
We put the design on paper fixture by fixture — what gets lit, from where, with which beam spread — and price it as a fixed proposal. Nothing is ordered and no deposit is taken until you've approved it.
Clean, Low-Voltage Install
Our crews hand-dig and tuck 12-volt cable below grade, set transformers discreetly, and mount solid brass and copper fixtures — with your lawn and beds left the way we found them.
Night Aiming & Ongoing Care
We return after dark to aim every fixture by eye, set your timer or app schedule, and walk the finished system with you — then keep it dialed in with optional annual maintenance.
